Every October, we highly anticipate our Fall Festival at Headquarters in St. Louis. And it's not just about celebrating our waltz into crisper weather, falling leaves, warm sweaters and the sweetness of Halloween. We spend an entire day, and the weeks leading up to it, pledging donations to the United Way of Greater St. Louis. So, when our Fall Festival celebration rolls around, we're adding the finishing touches to our over $1 million donation. It's an organization we've been contributing to for more than 50 years — and it's so close to our hearts because of how deeply we're rooted into our communities and because of the mere reach and breadth this organization has in helping others.
To keep our associates in the spirit of giving and celebrating the joy of helping others, we fill this annual day with food, entertainment, and remarks from some of the beneficiaries who've been so profoundly impacted by our donations, especially this one.
"Nestlé Purina is proud to serve the needs of communities where we live and work, and our commitment to United Way is deeply integrated in our culture," Steve Degnan, Purina United Way Chairman and Vice President of HR said. "Not only do we run a large campaign out of our Headquarters to benefit United Way of Greater St. Louis every year, but our manufacturing sites across the country also run campaigns for local United Way chapters in their communities."
We certainly weren't alone in this annual campaign. Purina, along with more than 2,500 businesses worked together to raise more than we did in 2014 — $73 million.
Additionally, we completed volunteer projects to benefit local nonprofit agencies, including United Way-supported agencies Kingdom House and Support Dogs, Inc.
