Position Title: Audit Intern
Why did you join Nestlé Purina?
I chose to join Purina because of the opportunities for growth and the well-known welcoming corporate culture it has. Although I am accounting major, public accounting never interested me as much as going the industry route, especially considering all that Nestlé has to offer.
What is your favorite part about working at Purina?
My favorite part is the welcoming culture. Everyone is so willing to help me out when I need it since you feel a bit lost starting off on the job.
Describe your main responsibilities.
My main responsibilities involve team work. Each audit consists of a group of auditors that work together to accomplish on-site audits. I am also responsible for an individual project specifically assigned to me that I present in front of the entire department at the end of the summer.
What has been the most interesting project or experience you've had?
The most interesting experience I've had was auditing a kitty litter factory. There was a local mine on site at the factory, which was very interesting!
What goals did you have coming into this internship?
The ultimate goal for the internship was to grow professionally and personally. I wanted to see myself grow in a professional setting while also doing successful work. The company has been very giving in all resources for me to grow professionally both in my knowledge with the company and with regards to my position.
What advice would you pass down to future Audit interns?
Don't get discouraged. It's important to remember that not everyone can be great on the job right from the very start. Accept that you'll make mistakes, but that doesn't mean you're incompetent or not cut out for the job. The purpose of starting an internship is to teach you how to jump over hurdles and test your ability to think on your feet.
