Position Title: Account Manager – Customer Development Group (CDG)

David K., Account Manager at Nestle Purina.

Why did you join the Purina team?

I joined Purina because I felt like it was one of the most progressive operating companies within the Nestlé organization. I had heard great things about the culture, upper management support, and the opportunity for continuous learning and training. And not to mention, the option to bring my two dogs to work!

What was your starting point at Purina and how did you end up in your current position?

I started with the company in our Nestlé Retail Operations Center (NROC) as a Retail Sales Representative. I was responsible for the entire Nestlé portfolio, not just Purina, at 15 Wal-Mart Supercenters. I sold product, helped manage inventory, built in-store relationships and set up displays.

What has been the most interesting project you've worked on?

I worked on a project with one of our largest customers and another packaging company to develop and implement a gravity-fed shelving system for wet cat food. Given that wet cat food is a variety-driven category, we were looking for opportunities to maintain variety at the shelf while providing a more organized and simplified shopping experience.

What skills have you gained within your current position?

The skill that I have gained most from my current position is effective negotiating. I received excellent negotiation training from an outside company as a requirement for my current role. It's exciting to use the various tactics I learned in the training on a daily basis, in both personal and business aspects of life.
