In recent years we made strides increasing the number of women in managerial positions, and we are driving towards our goal of gender parity. One way we are achieving our gender balance goals is by empowering women in our culture. As a global company we need benefits that support a workforce as diverse as the consumers we serve. According to Forbes, women spend more time and money each day making the purchasing decisions for their families relative to their male counterpart, yet consistently feel like consumer goods are not reflective of their needs. Having a balanced representation of empowered females in the workplace is not only the right thing to do, but its imperative to the company’s success. Here are just a few of our benefits that support women in the workplace:
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women’s annual earnings are about 82% that of their male counterparts. That pay gap is even larger when you look at women of color. Pay equity is one of our top priorities. Our compensation team actively analyzes and makes adjustments to salaries to ensure ongoing consistency and equality.
In addition, we offer access to personalized financial help through Financial Finesse, a tool that provides personal plans to employees so they can maximize their compensation and benefits already provided through the company. This program includes a suite of financial coaching resources that are unbiased and free to employees and their families to use.
Emotional health is just as important as physical health, so we offer an abundance of resources to help employees whole-self stay balanced. This includes access to various on-demand mental healthcare applications that keep self-care front of mind with mindfulness and meditation tools, as well as in-the-moment coping resources.
Associates also have access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Our EAP can aid associates with personal and/or work-related problems that may impact their job performance, health, mental, and emotional wellbeing through in-person, video, phone, and text counseling sessions. So, whether they’re seeking relationship support, financial advice, legal advice, or something else they’ll have an around-the-clock resource through a third-party provider to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
Women’s preventative health care through Nestlé medical plans with in-network providers is 100% covered. You read that correctly. Well-women exams, mammograms, annual screenings are all covered 100%. In addition to free preventative care, the plans also help cover fertility treatment services and maternity care. Learn more about our progressive maternity benefits here. Employees also have access to fertility, pregnancy, and parenting support through experts and Ovia Health which included applications to guide women from family planning through motherhood.
In 2020, many companies saw a mass exodus of women leaving the workforce. A study by McKinsey and Co. found that one in four women are considering downshifting their careers or leaving the workforce due to COVID-19. One contributor to this is the struggle to find childcare support. All Nestlé employees have access to Bright Horizons, which helps associates find sitters and discounted back-up care for both children and senior care solutions. Learn about additional childcare options here.
