SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT TRAINEE

What's on your iPod?
I have a taste for all kinds of music. I really enjoy anything with a good beat and something I can attempt to sing along with.
What's your most unusual or impressive skill?
I make my own jewelry.
What are your favorite books?
The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous, and Broke by Suze Orman, The Loved Dog by Tamar Gellar, East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
What made you choose to work at Nestlé Purina?
The training program was just what I was looking for right out of college: a challenging transition from school to the work place, hands-on experience, and a career path with many opportunities.
What motivates you to continue working at Nestlé Purina?
I know that I have found a career, not just a job. If my interests change and I would like to explore a new career path, I know I can do so within the same company.
What has been the most advantageous opportunity provided to you at Nestlé Purina?
Having the opportunity to train on the plant floor has been a great start to my career. Within a short amount of time I was able to understand how the manufacturing process of pet food works and see first hand all the components involved in making a finished product. Being on the plant floor gave me the opportunity to meet the operators and understand the operation from a new perspective.
What has been the most rewarding thing about working at Nestlé Purina?
The most rewarding thing about working at Nestlé Purina is being able to say that I work for a company that truly puts its values into practice. I love our mission statement and can say with confidence that it is engrained in every aspect of the business. Believing this statement and making it a daily truth is what the Nestlé Purina culture is about. I am very proud to tell people I work in the pet food industry, especially for a company like Nestlé Purina.
What is the most gratifying component about your current role?
Learning something new everyday. I have been able to train in every aspect of the plant, and every day is a new challenge. It is amazing to think that just a short time ago I had nowhere near the knowledge I do now. I feel very confident that the training I am receiving now will take me far in the near future.
What exciting projects have you worked on?
I was able to work on an audit that measured the amount of damaged products in our warehouse. It was great to see this process first hand and to gain a better understanding as to how and why products get damaged.
How have you been able to use your past experience or knowledge in your current role?
I recently graduated from college and am proud to say that I received an education that sent me into the workforce well prepared. Every day I use analytical skills, problem solving techniques, and even note taking!
What has Nestlé Purina done to help you develop professionally or personally?
Nestlé Purina has made me confident in my abilities. I am constantly challenged to be better, to dig deeper, and to never settle for less than my potential. This comes from influential management and a great culture at Nestlé Purina. The entire company has been very involved in every step of my training program and really wants to see me succeed.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?
I enjoy hanging out with my dog.
