What's on your iPod?: I must be the last living human that does not have an iPod.
What's your most unusual or impressive skill?: I make a mean pound cake from scratch.
What are your favorite books?: I enjoy mysteries, general fiction, and the occasional business book.
What motivates you to continue working at Nestlé Purina?: Quite simply, opportunity for professional and personal growth. Although my background is accounting and finance, I’ve had the opportunity to work in sales and gain exposure to other functional areas. Other companies don’t offer the breadth of experience you can obtain here from just one role/position.
What has been the most rewarding thing about working at Nestlé Purina?: Working with people who feel passionately about pets and providing the best for them.
Describe your greatest experience with Nestlé Purina.: At the end of a sales call with a one of our retail customers, one of the associates pulled us aside and talked about how her dog just loved Beneful®. Her dog wouldn’t eat anything and she was worried about him. After she tried Beneful, she said her dog had never been better! She was so enthusiastic! The episode demonstrated how we have a big impact on people through our products.
What do you wish you would have known about Nestlé Purina while you were searching for a job?: Nestlé Purina culture offers a unique blend of a congenial environment where associates are results focused. I took the culture for granted until I left Nestlé Purina for another company. What a difference, and not for the better! The culture is one of the major reasons I returned to Nestlé Purina.
What is the most gratifying component about your current role?: Finance provides a view across all functional areas. Eventually, all business activities show up in the numbers.
What exciting projects have you worked on?: I worked on a project team that examined a current business practice and was tasked with coming up with a new process. Our recommendation has now become a sales organization standard practice, with some modifications along the way. The project was a lot of work but a great learning experience.
How have you been able to use your past experience or knowledge in your current role?: The consumer packaged goods industry has some unique characteristics but most situations require good business judgment supported by facts. I can apply my previous business knowledge daily. Additionally, Nestlé Purina associates are happy to share their industry and company knowledge to help a newcomer get up to speed.
How has Nestlé Purina supported your work-life balance?: In our department we have the flexibility to work at home or vary our hours as needed to manage personal affairs. There is the expectation that your work will be done. However, it is nice to be empowered to do your job responsibly without keeping a strict work schedule.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?: I am an avid reader who enjoys travel, movies, and plays.
